🧺 Ingredients
For the Tangzhong (pre-cooked flour paste):

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

½ cup water

½ cup milk
For the dough:

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

3 tablespoons sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon dry yeast

1 egg
-
½ cup warm milk

3 tablespoons butter (softened)

Tangzhong (from above)
👨🍳 Instructions
1. Make the Tangzhong:
In a saucepan over medium heat, mix the flour, water, and milk.
Stir continuously until it thickens into a smooth paste.
Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
2. Prepare the dough:
In a bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
Add the Tangzhong, warm milk, and egg. Mix until a sticky dough forms.
Knead for 5–10 minutes, then add the softened butter. Continue kneading until the dough is smooth and elastic.
Shape into a ball, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour (or until doubled in size).
3. Shape and final rise:
Punch down the dough and divide it into 3 equal parts.
Roll each part into a log and place them side by side in a greased loaf pan.
Cover and let rise again for 30–40 minutes.
4. Bake:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
Brush the top with beaten egg or milk.
Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown.
Let it cool before slicing.
